Math is where it all starts.
By exploring mathematical and other formal systems, students learn the ability to think in abstract, theoretical ways. A mathematician is a master of critical thinking, analysis, and deductive reasoning. Our students have attained knowledge in all three areas.
Objectives.
- Students know and demonstrate understanding of the concepts from the five branches of mathematics (number, algebra, geometry and trigonometry, statistics and probability, and discrete mathematics).
- Students can select and apply general rules correctly to solve problems including those in real-life contexts.
- Students can justify the degree of accuracy of their results where appropriate.
- Students become familiar with some of the basic techniques used to construct mathematical proofs.
Outcomes.
Students will have the ability to develop abstract, logical and critical thinking and the ability to reflect critically upon their work and the work of others.
